Green Oil on Canvas 20" x 16" AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE This painting is titled Green for two reasons. The first is obvious—the green coat he is wearing, along with the green of the landscape around him. The second is due to the uneasiness he has with the shotgun. This man has never really shot a gun before (green meaning fresh or new), and I wanted to convey both a sense of macho and a sense of intimidation. That is why he is kind of lurching forward; it shows a bit of tension while he is trying to remain calm in his face. It is all very subtle, and I tried my best to get this to convey. I am very pleased with how the painting turned out, and I am trying to do more paintings with the figure in the landscape. This painting was completed with photos taken of the model out in the field. |
